Last week was Vacation Bible School at our tiny church and we kicked it off with a swim party. Even though Em isn't smiling in this picture I really like it. She had had enough of the mamaratzi and was trying very hard to ignore me and look cool. You can try but you can't shake me!This year was the first time in eleven years that I didn't teach a class. We were not sure if we would be in China or not so I just couldn't commit. It was a good thing too because I needed those few hours of peace each night to attempt to get ready for travel!
I did come over one night to play photographer. Note that I said "play." These are our 5th & 6th graders with their fearless leaders...our pastor and his wife. Derrick & Donna Sue are such huge blessings in our lives! Emily was very excited to have them as her teachers this year. It makes me laugh that you can't tell Donna Sue from the kids!
I was so disappointed when I forgot my camera on Family Night. The music is always such a big part of VBS and the kids did a great job! Halfway through one of the songs, Donna Sue leaned over to me and said "Just think, next year KayLi will be singing up there." I so lost it!

I would have bawled too! And just for the record, I'm still trying to figure out which one Donna Sue is in the picture...
Great shot of Em, even with the "Mom, get out of my face with the camera look!" that can almost be mistaken for simple aloofness. She'll be fine if she's ever famous...
